Clarence Faulkner, 42, a convicted felon, pleaded guilty in Washington, DC to unlawful possession of a short-barreled rifle that was found in his car along with PCP and cocaine, according to federal prosecutors.
In November last year, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department were on patrol in the 300 block of 61st Street NE when they spotted an unoccupied sedan parked on the side of the street running and unattended.
After advising the owner of that sedan not to leave a vehicle in such a state, officers saw an Acura parked in front of the car, and while investigating, they found a clear plastic bag filled with a green leafy substance that officers recognized was a large quantity of marijuana.
Officers then opened and searched the vehicle. Inside they recovered:
- More than two pounds of marijuana;
- 108 grams of cocaine base;
- Six fluid ounces of liquid phencyclidine (PCP);
- $38,891 in cash;
- A loaded Glock semi-automatic pistol that had been modified into a short-barreled rifle.
Officers also recovered a wallet with an ID for "Clarence Faulkner," mail addressed to Faulkner, and Faulkner’s vehicle registration for the gray Acura inside the vehicle.
Police stopped and arrested Faulkner, who was standing on a nearby sidewalk. He's been held since being taken into custody.
Officials said that "federal law prohibits Faulkner from possessing a firearm because he has multiple prior felony convictions, to include prior convictions for unlawful possession of a firearm."
Faulkner pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession with intent to distribute (phencyclidine).
When he is sentenced in May, Faulkner faces up to 20 years in prison and up to a $1 million fine.
